Jules Brave is a NYC singer/songwriter who is eager to perform, create and learn as much as she can. She plays in a quartet alongside her friend Mike Baretz, and the group is produced by her their mentor, world-renowned pianist and artist developer, Vera Tisheff, whose musical career has involved such great artists as Leonard Bernstein, Earl “Fatha” Hines, Cyro Baptista, Duran Duran and Vanessa Carlton. Jules is focused on furthering her musicianship and creating a signature style which combines the greatness of the classics, and the sensibilities of popular music. Her eclectic style is inspired by her influences, including Leslie Odom Jr., Lake Street Dive, Lianne La Havas and John Mayer.

Mike Baretz is an NYC based composer and musician. He loves to write songs, sing, and is finding his love for chamber and film music. He is inspired by greats such as Bill Evans, Stevie Wonder, and various classical composers. He recently had one of his chamber works, “Dusk”, a piano sextet, performed, and is currently playing in NYC with a quartet group with Jules Brave, playing original songs and arrangements. He has studied with 2x Grammy winning composer Herschel Garfein, and is mentored by world-renowned pianist and artist developer Vera Tisheff, whose musical career has involved such great artists as Leonard Bernstein, Earl “Fatha” Hines, Cyro Baptista, Duran Duran and Vanessa Carlton.

As Part of the Cornelia Street Café Percussion festival the percussion duo of Nitai Hershkovits and John Hadfield will perform on August 16th at 8pm. They will perform original compositions and explorative improvisations.

I have been playing music with Billy Drewes since the early 70's. Billy is one of everybody's favorite composer/performers and one of the true masters of the saxophone. Anyone who has had the chance to hear or perform with Billy become a fast fan of his music. 

I have been with bassist Bakithi Kumalo for 20 years in Paul Simon's group and few players on the planet celebrate every note as he does. Bakithi is listed as one of the top 100 most influential bassists of all time. 

Biodun is an absolute joy of a musician -- he is a traditional musician from Nigeria who is a 3rd generation talking-drum player, yet his main focus is contemporary West African guitar and vocals. When our master guitarist from Paul Simon's band, Vincent Nguini, sadly passed away this past Dec. 2017, I remembered Biodun Kuti (pronounced -  bee a dune) after meeting him through the "ONE BEAT " program. I suggested to Paul that he would be the guy to fill the massive shoes that Vincent had left vacant. After hearing a few magnificent guitarists, Paul heard one tune from Biodun and knew he was the right guy.

Haddad is best known for his global hand drumming/percussion, so it’s a

treat hearing him here in his role as kit player. Not surprisingly, he

delivers effortless feel, precision, dynamics, and an uncanny skill for

coloration and orchestration.
